For a month, a sewage leak at 700 Insurgentes Sur has affected hundreds of people and diners at street vendor stalls, creating a serious public health issue. In front of the 'Poliforum' Metrobús of Line 1, there have been constant sewage leaks, flooding the bike lane and inconveniencing pedestrians.
An intervention carried out in mid-February by the Benito Juárez mayor's office and the Secretary of Integral Water Management has failed to resolve the problem, as the leak continues. Authorities indicate that the building in question must take steps for the situation to be addressed, but to date, there has been no satisfactory response.
The accumulation of dirty water at the intersection of Insurgentes Sur and Luz Saviñón makes it difficult for pedestrians and cyclists to circulate, as they try to avoid getting dirty from sewage. Furthermore, this situation has raised safety concerns, as people prefer to jump over the puddles, increasing the risk of accidents in the area.
So far, it is unknown whether the building has received any fines or warnings from the authorities. The persistence of the leak, reported by various media outlets such as Publimetro, highlights the lack of action by the Government of Mexico City and the Benito Juárez mayor's office in addressing this public health issue.
